Compound voiced hiragana
And finally we have the voiced equivalents of the compound hiragana. These form voiced / unvoiced pairs in much the same way as the basic hiragana we saw earlier. Just as ga is ka plus two small dashes, gya is kya plus two small dashes. Simple, really.

gya ja ja bya pya
gyu ju ju byu pyu
gyo jo jo byo pyo

Notice that ja / ju / jo are the voiced forms of sha / shu / sho, just as ji is the voiced form of shi. The hya / bya / pya progression is similar to the ha / ba / pa we saw earlier, too.

Remember how I mentioned that and are both pronounced the same way (ji), but we hardly ever use ? The same goes for the compound hiragana above: ja, ja and ja aren't generally used. ja, ja and ja are much more common.
